Summit Summary 7+ Data prelunch – All receiving 7+ dots

Summit Dot Data – All receiving 1 or more dots

What isn’t on our morning list that maybe should be, based on our tours of learning/work spaces and time with our guests?

  • Guaranteed experiences – need to revisit this with a new understanding of what these mean for our students
  • Regular access to real-world mentors/models
  • Flatten the organization and ensure that all are on the same page and working in support of each other
  • Faculty and department/grade level meetings need to be models for classroom learning and vice versa
  • What gets done – is rewarded, feels good, is good; assessments show what you value, we likely need restructure what we measure (and thus value)
  • Being okay with failure requires a sense of safety – and that extends to our teachers
  • If we are going to change the way we look at things, we must change the metrics (teachers, admin first)
  • Students need to know their impact – and that they can have an impact
  • Systems thinking requires us to think about environments more than spaces
  • What drives people to act, create change
  • Do we really have shared understandings about the process words we toss about and the soft skills we say we value?
  • Intersection of ego, humility, confidence, empathy.  How do those pieces need to blend if we’re going to question everything and encourage students to do the same?
